I think most of us know Botox as a treatment for facial skin wrinkles. But how would it sound if it was suggested to you to relieve chronic back pain? The application of Botox has been experimentally studied as a possible alternative treatment for opioid drugs.

A groundbreaking study recently published in the journal Science demonstrated relief for several weeks of chronic and neuropathic pain in mice injected with Butyl Toxin into their spinal canal.

To date the treatment of choice for the treatment of chronic pain is opioids and even if the benefit is small from the application of Botox the change in the therapeutic drug regimen is huge.
