Breast augmentation (mastopexy)

For many women, weight fluctuations and pregnancy can lead to severe sagging and sagging breasts. In these cases the most appropriate operation is breast augmentation surgery, also known as mastopexy. With this operation, the adenolipal tissue of the breast is lifted and fixed in a better aesthetic and anatomical position. In addition, the increase in breast volume can be combined if required.

Candidates for breast augmentation

The operation is indicated for women with small and medium breast volume with the nipple falling below the level of the submandibular groove. Women with large breasts will benefit more from a minimizing surgery, which will also lift the breasts. In those cases where along with the fall co-exists and loss of the tumor, then the operation of mastoplasty is combined with the placement of implants to increase the final volume.

Surgical technique

The operation usually begins with an incision around the nipple. Depending on the technique to be applied, there may be only one vertical incision or in addition another horizontal incision at the height of the sub-groove. The vertical incision technique can leave a slight swelling at the height of the submucosa that may need to be repaired after 6-12 months from the date of surgery.

The technique is based on repositioning the nipple of the mammary gland and the fat at a higher point. If a drainage device is installed, it is removed on the day of the patient's discharge.

Smoking is absolutely contraindicated in all cases of breast augmentation or reduction surgery.

After breast augmentation surgery, the instructions are the same as for breast reduction surgery.
