It is the most common surgery in the field of cosmetic surgery worldwide. In well-chosen individuals an excellent result can be achieved with very little recovery time and the simultaneous absence of postoperative scars.

Candidates for liposuction

Liposuction is a very popular operation due to the fact that it is personalized according to the specific needs of each patient. It can also be done anywhere on the body where excess fat has accumulated. The most common anatomical points are the area below the chin (double jaw), the lateral abdominal walls, the outer surface of the thighs, the buttocks, the inner surface of the knees and the male breast (gynecomastia). All of these areas resist removing excess fat through diet and exercise. The best results can be achieved in patients with local fat accumulation, good skin elasticity, and when they are close to their ideal weight. The younger the patient, the greater the chance that his skin will not loosen. Today, with the simultaneous use of the laser (smartlipo), there are many patients who do not need to undergo a tummy tuck, as their image is significantly improved with only a liposuction operation.

Surgical technique

The invasive time of liposuction and the type of anesthesia that will be needed depends on the areas to be treated as a whole. It is possible to treat many points in one operation and it is generally a one-day operation with local anesthesia or intoxication.

The treatment begins with the opening of small holes in the skin with a diameter of 1 cm. A cannula enters and diffuses the local anesthetic and then suction cannulas enter by breaking down and aspirating the excess fat. Liposuction is also a part of most body procedures. Particular attention is paid to immediate mobilization to avoid thrombophlebitis.

After liposuction

Swelling and bruising occur immediately and continuous pressure with special clothing for 4-6 weeks is important to achieve a good result. The holes for the entrance of the cannula are left open for the drainage of the blood and the fluid that can with its accumulation lead to fibrosis and abnormalities in the skin. Returning to work takes only a few days.
